Enfrentar la pérdida y superar las adversidades a veces puede ser un camino difícil, pero también puede convertirse en una fuente de inspiración. La motivación para crear esta película surge del relato "Monte Veritá" de Daphne du Maurier, un libro cargado de valor sentimental para la productora del grupo porque fue un regalo de alguien especial que falleció poco después de entregarlo. El libro y la escritora en sí es una experiencia digna de hacer cine, y fue de hecho el motor de todo el texto del proyecto. Resumidamente este libro habla de una desaparición repentina y de un proceso de aceptación. Esto remitió a la directora a lo importante que es hacerle espacio y tiempo a los procesos personales en la vorágine de la vida actual. Esta situación de pérdida inevitablemente nos dirigió al concepto de duelo, y vimos una oportunidad para hacerlo convivir con el resto de temáticas en las que estábamos interesadas. El enfoque de la pieza fue evolucionando durante varios meses y se convirtió en una hazaña personal, el enfoque del relato ya no era una adaptación del libro sino el relato de la búsqueda de una “ausencia”, que brindó una oportunidad para canalizar la incomodidad del duelo.

Con la productora Rocío, la directora Agustina y la guionista Lara, nos conocemos desde el CBC (etapa de estudios previo al ingreso a la carrera) y nos interesa retratar un pequeño fragmento de nuestras vivencias como mujeres en sus veintes, que es una etapa que atravesamos prácticamente juntas. Nos es de suma importancia contar historias que pongan en relieve la experiencia de las mujeres y sus vivencias en el ámbito laboral y personal por esa razón decidimos hablar de temas que nos interpelan hoy: el autoconocimiento, las dificultades de la mujer en la industria, la soledad y el duelo. En esta oportunidad, en este proyecto tan importante, nos sumergimos en la relación entre dos amigas íntimas que comparten un profundo sentimiento de incertidumbre por la vida que llevan, pero sus caminos en esa búsqueda de respuestas estaban destinados a hacerse por separado. Lucia, nuestra protagonista, se ve atravesada por estas situaciones: ella es artista, está atravesando un bloqueo creativo a raíz de su situación no resuelta con Graciana y las exigencias del negocio del arte al cual desea fuertemente pertenecer. Frente a este escenario, decide emprender un viaje solitario que la va a ayudar a entender que Graciana ya no está y debe aceptar la pérdida de lo que fue y de lo que nunca va a ser. Lucia deberá hacerse lugar a ella misma y a sus problemas, a medida que abandona el espacio urbano de la ciudad, su competitivo comercio y sus exigencias. Resumidamente de esto trata nuestra premisa, creemos que a veces hay que hacerse el tiempo de sincerarnos con nosotros mismos y darnos espacio para atravesar este tipo de procesos personales, tal cual lo hace nuestro personaje.

Con "Reminiscencia" buscamos dejar plasmado el valor de una persona que vive dentro del recuerdo de la otra. Como un fantasma que duele, pero enseña y habita en nosotros y obliga a transformarse. Nos interesa generar una perspectiva que motive a quienes la vean con esta pieza de género coming of age que retrate el crecimiento psicológico y moral de la protagonista. Encontrar el sentido de algo que damos por perdido es un arte. Nos parece pertinente parafrasear a un psicólogo argentino muy famoso que define, entre otras cosas, al duelo como la aceptación de la pérdida de aquello que sólo existía entre medio de dos personas (sin ser una persona ni la otra, sino lo intangible que se genera entre ambas) y que deja de existir con la falta de una de ellas. Lo interesante en esta idea, es eso de lo que nos tenemos que despedir, ese algo que ahora sólo está en el recuerdo. Aquello que no podemos ver ni tocar pero nos punza, y nos obliga a confiar en la importancia de algo no tangible que nos afecta. La realización de esta película no sólo es un medio para concretar esta etapa de nuestros estudios sino también, y tal vez, para dar un cierre a una etapa de nuestras vidas y dar apertura a una productora audiovisual que busca compartir historias que resuenen con sensibilidad.

Facing loss and overcoming adversity can sometimes be a challenging journey, but it can also become a source of inspiration. The motivation to create this film comes from the story "Monte Veritá" by Daphne du Maurier, a book of sentimental value to the production group because it was a gift from someone special who passed away shortly after giving it. The book and the writer herself provide a cinematic experience, and indeed, they were the driving force behind the entire project's narrative. In summary, this book speaks of a sudden disappearance and a process of acceptance. This led the director to realize the importance of making space and time for personal processes amidst the chaos of modern life. This inevitable experience of loss inevitably led us to the concept of grief, and we saw an opportunity to intertwine it with the other themes we were interested in. The focus of the piece evolved over several months and became a personal quest. The narrative was no longer an adaptation of the book but the story of the search for an "absence," which provided an opportunity to channel the discomfort of grief.

With the producer Rocío, the director Agustina, and the screenwriter Lara, we have known each other since the CBC (pre-university studies) and are interested in portraying a small fragment of our experiences as women in our twenties, a stage we have practically gone through together. It is of utmost importance to us to tell stories that highlight women's experiences in both the workplace and personal life, which is why we decided to address topics that resonate with us today: self-discovery, the challenges women face in the industry, loneliness, and grief. In this project, we delve into the relationship between two intimate friends who share a deep sense of uncertainty about the lives they lead, but their paths in the quest for answers were destined to diverge. Lucia, our protagonist, is caught in these situations: she is an artist, experiencing creative block due to her unresolved situation with Graciana and the demands of the art business where she desperately wants to belong. Faced with this scenario, she decides to embark on a solitary journey that will help her understand that Graciana is no longer there, and she must accept the loss of what was and what will never be. Lucia must make room for herself and her problems as she leaves the urban space of the city, its competitive commerce, and its demands. In essence, this is what our premise is about; we believe that sometimes we need to make time to be honest with ourselves and give ourselves space in the whirlwind of modern life to go through these personal processes, just as our character does.

With "Reminiscence," we seek to capture the value of a person who lives within the memories of another. Like a haunting ghost that hurts but also teaches and resides in us, compelling us to transform. We aim to create a perspective that motivates those who watch it, with this coming-of-age piece that portrays the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist. Finding meaning in something we thought was lost is an art. It seems relevant to paraphrase a famous Argentine psychologist who defines grief, among other things, as the acceptance of the loss of something that existed only between two people (neither being one person nor the other, but the intangible that is generated between them) and ceases to exist with the absence of one of them. What's interesting in this idea is what we have to bid farewell to, something that now exists only in memory. Something we can't see or touch but that pricks us and forces us to trust in the importance of something intangible that affects us. The making of this film is not only a means to complete this stage of our studies but perhaps also to bring closure to a phase of our lives and open the door to an audiovisual production company that aims to share stories that resonate with sensitivity.
